Governor Phil Murphy has witnessed the establishment of new academic partnerships between Rutgers University, the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), and National Taipei University of Technology (Taipei Tech) during his economic mission to East Asia. The agreements aim to strengthen academic collaboration and enhance research capabilities for these universities. One of the agreements involves the partnership between the Rutgers University School of Engineering and Taipei Tech, while the other agreement is between NJIT and Taipei Tech. These partnerships not only strengthen the reputation of New Jersey as a leader in academic excellence and technological innovation, but also pave the way for new, groundbreaking technological breakthroughs.
The collaboration between Rutgers University and Taipei Tech focuses on establishing joint learning and degree programs to enhance global education, as well as cooperative research initiatives across engineering disciplines. This partnership aims to drive engineering innovation by leveraging collaboration as a key driver. Rutgers–New Brunswick Chancellor Francine Conway also expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting that Rutgers is a top public university known for interdisciplinary research.
Similarly, NJIT and Taipei Tech have established a Joint Research Protocol of Academic Collaboration, which will enable joint research efforts on a wide range of topics, including bioscience, materials science, robotics, data science, and transportation systems. NJIT President Teik C. Lim expressed excitement about this collaboration, emphasizing the societal and economic benefits it will yield. Taipei Tech President Sea-Fue Wang also highlighted the significance of these partnerships, emphasizing that they will strengthen the bonds of collaborations and connect Taiwanese companies with international technology trends.
