LG has joined the trend of foldable laptops with the announcement of its new device, the LG Gram Fold. The laptop features a single large foldable display and can be used in various orientations, including laptop mode with a physical keyboard, tablet mode, and book mode. Its display has a resolution of 1920 x 2560 and a peak brightness of 500 nits. The LG Gram Fold is set to be available for purchase in South Korea from October 4th, with an international release yet to be announced.
In terms of specifications, the LG Gram Fold is powered by an Intel i5-1335U CPU, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage. It has a 72Wh battery and weighs 1250 grams. The laptop comes with a pair of USB-C ports, one Thunderbolt 4 compatible, and the other USB 3.2 Gen 2×1. It is also stylus compatible, although the stylus is sold separately.
With LG Display mass producing foldable displays and other competitors such as Samsung Display and BOE entering the market, it is expected that more laptop manufacturers will announce their own foldable devices. However, the challenge remains to create models that are more affordable for consumers.
