India emerged as the most targeted country for cyberattacks in 2022, accounting for 13.7% of all attacks. According to a report by cybersecurity firm Cyfirma, attacks on Indian government agencies more than doubled last year. The second half of 2022 witnessed a staggering 95% increase in cyberattacks on these agencies compared to the same period in the previous year. Additionally, state-sponsored cyberattacks in India increased by over 100% in 2022 compared to 2021.
Palo Alto Networks, a leading cybersecurity company, recently announced its acquisition of Talon Cyber Security, an Israeli firm known for its enterprise browser technology. The deal, reportedly valued at $625 million, follows Palo Alto Networks’ acquisition of Cloud data specialist Dig Security for around $400 million. Talon’s advanced Enterprise Browser technology, when combined with “Prisma SASE,” ensures secure access to business applications across various devices, including mobile and non-corporate devices, thereby providing a seamless user experience.
In the third quarter of 2023, smartphone shipments in the US experienced a significant decline of 19%, according to a report by Counterpoint Research. Notably, Samsung, Google, and TCL were the hardest-hit brands, witnessing declines of 26%, 37%, and 51% respectively. Meanwhile, Lenovo-owned Motorola and Nokia HMD experienced growth in their shipments, with increases of 31% and 17% respectively compared to the same period in the previous year. These findings indicate a changing landscape in the US smartphone market.
Looking ahead, Apple is expected to refresh its entire iPad line in 2024. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman revealed that the iPad series, including the standard iPad, iPad Pro, Mini, and iPad Air, will undergo upgrades next year. The highlight of these updates is anticipated to be the iPad Pro models, featuring the updated M3 chip and OLED displays in 11 and 13-inch sizes. It is noteworthy that Apple did not introduce any new iPads throughout 2023, deviating from its usual pattern of annual iPad releases. Excitement is building among Apple users for the upcoming upgrades.
