Lufthansa is making it easier for passengers to stay connected in the air, offering free messaging on their European flights. With access to unlimited messaging on popular apps like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and Telegram, passengers can now share updates and photos during their flights using their own devices. In addition to this new service, Lufthansa is also reducing the price of its unlimited Wi-Fi packages by almost 50%.
To access the free messaging service, passengers will need to log into the airline’s FlyNet portal using a service card number for Lufthansa’s loyalty program, Miles & More, or an email address registered with a Lufthansa Group Travel ID. This initiative is part of Lufthansa’s broader plan to invest around two billion euros in product and service improvements. The free messaging will bring added value to the travel experience with Lufthansa, allowing passengers to stay in touch with friends and family, or even conduct business, while flying above the clouds for no additional cost.
It’s important to note that this new offering is limited to messaging, so passengers won’t be able to browse the web or stream content. However, Lufthansa’s decision to join other carriers in providing free onboard messaging reflects a growing trend in the industry to enhance the passenger experience with in-flight connectivity options.
