Taylor Swift has made history with her latest nomination for the Grammys. Her song Anti-Hero has secured her seventh nomination for song of the year, surpassing Sir Paul McCartney and Lionel Richie, who each have six nominations in the category. Additionally, Swift is nominated in the album and record of the year categories, joining other top artists such as Olivia Rodrigo, Miley Cyrus, and SZA. This year’s Grammy nominations saw a reduction in available slots within each category, making it even harder for artists to make the shortlist.
The 2024 Grammy Awards will take place in Los Angeles on 4 February, but the hosts for the event have yet to be announced. Among the nominees for best new artist is British dance and electronic producer Fred Again, who is joined by names such as Ice Spice, Jelly Roll, and others. Additionally, this year’s nominations saw a surprise inclusion of US rapper and singer Jelly Roll, who had a breakout single with Need A Favor and could potentially become the oldest person to be named best new artist if he wins.
Singer-songwriter SZA leads the pack with a total of nine nominations, while other notable artists like Billie Eilish, Lana Del Rey, and Olivia Rodrigo are recognized across multiple categories as well. Some artists, however, felt they were snubbed from the major categories, including Morgan Wallen and Doja Cat, despite their significant chart success in the past year.
