Honda unveils Prologue EV with detailed range, battery, and charging specifications

Honda has unveiled new specifications for its upcoming 2024 Honda Prologue, the company’s first all-electric SUV. The Prologue is expected to have an EPA-estimated range of 300 miles on a single charge, thanks to its 85kWh battery. This battery size is comparable to that of the Chevy Blazer EV, which has an official EPA range of 279 miles. Both vehicles have similar features, such as a 121.8-inch wheelbase and an 11-inch driver instrument display. However, Honda’s Prologue distinguishes itself by offering wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto support, unlike GM’s EVs.

Honda will also provide several charging package options for Prologue buyers, including public charging credits. One package includes an 11.5kW home charging station with a $500 Honda Home Electrification installation service incentive and $100 in public charging credit. Another option offers a slower but portable 7.6kW charger, a $250 installation credit, and a $300 public charging credit. For those who already have a Level 2 home charger or live in an apartment, a third option provides $750 in public charging credits. Additionally, Honda and Acura EV owners will receive free DC fast charging at Electrify America stations, up to 60kWh.

The Prologue EVs are expected to be delivered in early 2024 and will start in the “upper $40,000s” price range. They may also qualify for the $7,500 federal tax incentive. Honda aims to introduce 30 new EVs globally by 2030 and achieve a sales volume of 2 million vehicles. The Prologue is Honda’s first electric vehicle in the US since the 2015 Honda Fit EV, and the company plans to release a larger SUV on its own e Architecture platform in 2025. Honda’s decision to use GM’s platform for the Prologue is seen as a temporary measure to accelerate its electrification process.
