According to a report by financial website WalletHub, Santa Rosa has been ranked among the best cities in the United States for women to thrive. Out of 182 cities, Santa Rosa secured the 59th position on WalletHub’s list of “2023’s Best & Worst Cities for Women.” The ranking was based on various factors such as economic and social well-being, health care, and safety. Santa Rosa fared well in terms of health and safety concerns, ranking 21st out of the 182 cities. However, it was less favorable for women’s economic and social well-being, coming in at 131st place.
WalletHub determined these rankings by considering factors like the median earnings for female workers, unemployment rates, job security, and the share of women-owned businesses for economic and social well-being. In terms of health and safety, the study examined data on women’s hospital quality, abortion policies and access, physical activity rates, obesity rates, and suicide rates for women. Columbia, Maryland, was identified as the best city for women in the US, while Jackson, Mississippi, was deemed the worst.
Nevertheless, Santa Rosa still fares well compared to most cities in the US when it comes to women’s living standards. While some other California cities like San Francisco, Oakland, Sacramento, and San Diego ranked higher, Santa Rosa still placed in the top third of US metros for women.
