The fourth-generation Nest Learning Thermostat represents Google’s most significant redesign of its smart thermostat since its original release in 2011. Launched in August, one of its prominent new features includes a 2.7-inch display, which is double the size of its predecessor and offers greater customization options. Users can configure the main display to show a clock, weather information, or indoor temperature. As the user approaches, the display can transition to showing humidity, outdoor temperature, and even the outdoor air quality index score.
Despite the enhancements, a significant drawback was noted by owners: the display was often too dim, and there was no manual control to adjust brightness. Google has addressed this issue in its latest software update by adding manual brightness adjustments and optimizing the thermostat’s automatic brightness settings.
To utilize the new manual brightness feature, users need to navigate to the Settings Menu on their Nest Learning Thermostat. By selecting Device Settings, then tapping on Display Brightness, users can choose the Manual option to customize the screen’s brightness.
