Backpack Solar Generator Enables Nature-Free Adventures

Bluetti has introduced a new line of Handsfree Backpack Power Stations, designed to offer substantial portable power for outdoor enthusiasts. These power stations are available in two sizes, catering to varying needs for power and gear capacity in outdoor settings.

While the primary target audience includes outdoor photographers, Bluetti anticipates these products will also attract hikers, rock climbers, campers, adventurers, bikepackers, and motorcyclists. Essentially, the devices are aimed at anyone wishing to power their gadgets beyond the confines of an office environment. The backpacks’ side panels allow users to access all inputs and outputs without removing the solar generator. Additionally, these ports can be managed and monitored through Bluetooth using the Bluetti app.

The Handsfree 1 solar generator, priced at $299, comes with a 42L BluePack 1 backpack. It has the capacity to power AC devices up to 300W and stores 268.8Wh in its LFP battery. This capacity can recharge devices like the DJI Mavic 3 or a laptop approximately three times. The Handsfree 2, available for $399, features a more significant battery capacity of 700W/512Wh within a larger 60L backpack.

Both solar generators are designed to be tall and relatively slim, featuring five outputs: one AC, two 100W USB-C, and two 15W USB-A outputs. They are equipped with XT60 solar inputs, with the Handsfree 1 supporting 12V-28V/200W max, and the Handsfree 2 supporting 12V-45V/350W max. Dimensions and weight for the Handsfree 1 are 11.3 x 3.7 x 11 inches (286.5 × 95 × 280mm) weighing 11 pounds (5kg), whereas the Handsfree 2 measures 12 × 4.1 × 15.2 inches (305 × 105 × 385mm) and weighs 16.5 pounds (7.5kg).

The backpacks feature numerous pockets for organizing gear and Molle straps for external carrying options. While the backpacks are water-resistant, they come with a rain fly for additional protection. The weight of the backpacks themselves is not specified but they appear to be substantial.
