Trump Attacks ‘War Hawk’ Liz Cheney with Violent Language: NPR

Former President Donald Trump criticized former GOP Representative Liz Cheney in Arizona on Thursday, using violent language to discuss her, as she supports his political rival, Vice President Kamala Harris. During an onstage conversation with conservative commentator Tucker Carlson in Glendale, Arizona, Trump launched into a lengthy critique of Cheney, one of only two Republicans who served on the House committee investigating the January 6 riot.

Trump characterized Cheney as a “radical war hawk” advocating for the continued presence of American troops in Iraq and Syria, decisions he argued were costly in both human lives and financial resources. He went on to make a controversial suggestion involving Cheney and firearms, saying, “Let’s put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her,” adding, “Let’s see how she feels about it, you know, when the guns are trained on her face.”

Trump indicated that such advocates are detached from the consequences of their decisions, sitting comfortably in Washington while sending troops into dangerous situations. Throughout his campaign, Trump has frequently expressed themes of revenge and grievances, labeling domestic adversaries as “the enemy from within” and suggesting the potential for military intervention against political disturbances.

Trump has previously accused Cheney of treason, asserting she should face imprisonment. Cheney, supporting Harris, argues that Trump is a threat to the nation and does not uphold conservative values. In response to Trump’s remarks, Harris’ campaign quickly spotlighted the comments, while Trump’s campaign dismissed the ensuing controversy as a “hoax.”

Additionally, in his extended conversation with Carlson, Trump criticized his former national security advisor John Bolton, focusing on Bolton’s distinctive mustache. Bolton has stated he will not support Trump in the upcoming election, although he has not endorsed Harris.
