Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is frequently seen wearing black leather jackets that are notably expensive. His fashion choice, influenced by his wife and daughter, has been a personal style for over two decades. There have been speculations about a correlation between the cost of his jackets and Nvidia’s performance, but this remains unverified.
Icons like Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, and Bill Gates were known for their simple, budget-friendly styles, contrasting Huang’s more upscale and distinct appearance. Huang’s signature black leather jackets, some costing several thousand dollars each, have become a defining aspect of his public persona. In a Reddit AMA in 2016, Huang himself acknowledged his reputation as “the guy in the leather jacket who repeats things three times.” This look was notably featured on the cover of Time in 2021.
Fashion experts have indicated that Huang often wears luxury brand Tom Ford, with some of his jackets priced over $10,000. At Nvidia’s GTC 2025 keynote, Huang sported a biker-style black leather jacket by Tom Ford. While there is debate regarding which specific jacket he wore, estimates suggest they range from $5,000 to $7,000. At last year’s keynote address, Huang was thought to be wearing a nearly $9,000 lizard-embossed Tom Ford jacket. Given Huang’s net worth of $104 billion and Nvidia’s approaching $3 trillion market capitalization, such expenditures are not significant for him.
Reginald Ferguson, owner of menswear fashion consultancy New York Fashion Geek, noted that Huang frequently wears Tom Ford jackets and commented on his consistent style choice, which complements his gray hair.
In an interview with HP last year, Huang revealed his fashion inspiration does not come from him, crediting his wife and daughter for his wardrobe. He mentioned his preference for living in the moment, opting not to wear a watch, unlike some of his wealthy peers. A spokesperson stated that Huang has been wearing black leather jackets for at least 20 years.
Huang has been seen embracing bolder designs, such as crocodile- or lizard-embossed leather jackets. However, in culturally conservative settings like Taiwan, he opts for more understated styles from Dunhill, according to Veronica Zhai, owner of the New York-based luxury sustainable fashion brand Zhai. Although some social media users attempt to correlate the prices of Huang’s jackets with Nvidia’s stock performance, such relationships are not definitive. Nvidia declined to comment on any potential connection.
The creation of a signature look by tech executives like those at Nvidia, Apple, and Microsoft can aid in reducing decision fatigue, according to Zhai. A consistent personal style serves as an extension of an executive’s brand, she explained.
While several tech executives lack a signature look, figures like Steve Jobs chose consistent attire for its simplicity. Ferguson described Mark Zuckerberg’s former style of black hoodies as “lazy” but acknowledged an evolution in his image. The clothing choices of tech executives often serve as a personal statement, as Ferguson commented, likening it to a stylish transformation.
