Trey Trahan adds Louisiana touch to Expo 2025 | Business News

Architect Victor “Trey” Trahan, III, who has fond memories of the Louisiana World Exposition in 1984, is now designing the USA Pavilion for the World’s Fair in Osaka, Japan, next year. His firm, Trahan Architects, based in New Orleans, has been selected to design this prominent architectural attraction. The design of the pavilion reflects a minimalist style, with two triangular buildings connected by a large plaza featuring giant LED screens displaying iconic American landscapes and an illuminated translucent cube in the center.

The USA Pavilion aims to showcase American culture through exhibits of urban and natural locations, outer space, and a landscaped garden with native American plants. Inspired by south Louisiana, the pavilion embodies a “quiet but dignified” feel, emphasizing community over individuality. Despite being designed for temporary use, the pavilion is being constructed with sustainable practices, using recycled materials that can be stored for future reuse, ensuring its legacy lives on beyond the World Expo.

World Expos, overseen by the Bureau International des Expositions, have evolved over time to attract large crowds and showcase the latest in technology and architecture. Trahan’s design for the USA Pavilion not only represents American culture but also embodies sustainability and a commitment to leaving a lasting impact beyond the six-month duration of the Expo. Through innovative design and sustainable practices, Trahan Architects is setting a new standard for temporary structures at World Expos.
