Israel dismisses Hamas’ hostage release claim as mere propaganda

Israel has dismissed Hamas’ claim that they wanted to release two more hostages on humanitarian grounds but that Israel declined to receive them. Abu Ubaida, spokesman for Hamas’ armed wing, stated that they informed Qatar of their intention to release the additional hostages. However, Israel called this claim “propaganda” and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office stated that they will not refer to false information spread by Hamas. They reaffirmed their commitment to continue working towards the return of all kidnapped and missing individuals. Qatar, which helped mediate the release of the American hostages, has not yet commented on the matter.

Hamas had previously captured around 210 people during its assault in southern Israel, and on Friday, they released Americans Judith Tai Ranaan and her daughter Natalie. Abu Ubaida later mentioned that Hamas was ready to release the two additional hostages on Sunday using the same procedures as the previous release. However, Israel’s response remains unchanged, rejecting Hamas’ claims and focusing on their efforts to bring back all the kidnapped and missing people. The situation continues to unfold as the two sides engage in ongoing conflict, with Qatar playing a role in facilitating negotiations.

It is crucial to note that the information presented by Hamas regarding their intention to release more hostages is being refuted by Israel. The situation remains tense as the conflict between Israel and Hamas persists, and the fate of the remaining captive individuals remains uncertain. The involvement of Qatar in mediating the release of the American hostages showcases their diplomatic role in the region. Both Israel and Hamas are determined to push their narratives, with Israel denouncing Hamas’ claims as propaganda while emphasizing their commitment to resolving the hostage situation.
