In the past 24 hours following a revealing article published in The Atlantic, senators have intensely questioned intelligence officials from the Trump administration. However, there are currently no indications of consequences for those involved. The article, written by Jeffrey Goldberg, describes how he was inadvertently added to a Signal chat, a secure messaging application, where significant figures from the administration were organizing a U.S. bombing operation in Yemen.
During a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing tracked by NPR’s Ryan Lucas, CIA Director John Ratcliffe and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard testified that the conversation within the chat did not involve any classified information. This claim was met with skepticism by some Democrats.
Additionally, Willem Marx has provided reports on the reaction from European capitals. The Atlantic article also contained critical remarks about European allies made by Vice President J.D. Vance and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
