During a Sunday appearance at a town hall in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Musk wore a polyurethane cheesehead and addressed voters, emphasizing the importance of the upcoming state Supreme Court election. The billionaire asserts that this election is crucial not because of the widely discussed issues such as abortion, labor, or voting rights, but rather because it could determine control of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Musk has claimed that the April 1 election is essentially a decision on which party will control the House, asserting that this control would have significant implications for the country’s and Western civilization’s direction. According to him, maintaining a progressive majority on Wisconsin’s high court could lead to revisiting the gerrymandered congressional district maps, which currently benefit Republicans. Musk argues that fairer maps could result in more Democrats being elected, potentially impacting the House majority in 2026.
To support former attorney general Brad Schimel over Judge Susan Crawford, Musk has committed significant financial resources to secure the election of a Republican-leaning justice who would uphold the existing district maps favoring GOP candidates. He argues that fair redistricting could cost Republicans two seats in Wisconsin and hinder government reforms aligned with his views.
