Adobe launches new AI tools, puts generative AI at core of creativity.

Adobe recently announced new generative AI enhancements across its core product lines, joining other major tech giants like Google and Microsoft in integrating AI into their products. The enhancements include three new AI models as part of Firefly, Adobe’s generative AI imaging tool, as well as added features to Illustrator and Adobe Express, and improved Photoshop’s text-to-image capabilities. During the keynote address at the annual MAX event in Los Angeles, Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen emphasized that the focus is on integrating generative technology directly into workflows to fuel creativity and deliver power and precision. Adobe’s Firefly has already generated over 3 billion images since its launch earlier this year.

One of the new AI models introduced is Firefly Image 2, which offers higher-resolution images and greater detail in rendering photorealistic humans. Adobe also launched two Firefly models for generating vector images and design templates, envisioning their use in marketing and ad graphic creation. The company is taking a measured approach to rolling out AI features and engaging with the creative community through beta releases to obtain feedback for future improvements. Additionally, Adobe Express is getting AI through the Firefly Design model, allowing users to generate templates with a new Text-to-template feature. Lightroom, Adobe’s editing tool, is also receiving updates including a new Lens Blur tool.

Adobe’s strong focus on integrating generative AI into its suite of apps and services reflects the ongoing experimentation with AI in enterprises and the insatiable demand for content. The company aims to provide high-quality AI models that are commercially safe and transparent in terms of their training data. The introduction of AI into Adobe’s business model aims to enhance creativity and deliver precision to users.
