Amazon Introduces New Kindle Family, Featuring First Color Kindle

Amazon has introduced four new Kindle e-readers to its lineup. The releases include the Colorsoft Signature Edition, the first color Kindle; a new Kindle Scribe with note-taking capabilities; an upgraded version of the popular Paperwhite; and a new entry-level Kindle. An announcement in Spanish with U.S. pricing inadvertently appeared, although the links to Amazon’s store are currently inactive. Here are the details about the new products.

The Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition is designed to offer a color display akin to real paper for book covers and highlighted text. It allows images to be zoomed in without pixelation in both standard and vibrant color modes. This device is waterproof and features fast page turns, wireless charging, a battery life of up to eight weeks, and a new light guide with nitride LEDs. It is priced at $279.99 and will begin shipping on October 30th.

The new Kindle Scribe combines the functionality of an e-reader and a note-taker. It features a 300ppi screen with new white edges and offers a paper-like writing experience with Amazon’s Premium Pencil, which includes a soft-tip eraser. In addition to note-taking, it provides a unique book writing experience where users can add notes directly onto book pages, with text seamlessly flowing around them. Additional features to hide notes in the side panel are expected soon. The integrated notebook utilizes AI to summarize pages into concise points, and notes can be made ready for export with a handwritten-style font. Priced at $399.99, the Kindle Scribe will be available for delivery beginning December 4th, with preorders open immediately.

The Kindle Paperwhite has been described by Amazon as the “fastest Kindle yet.” This best-selling device now features a larger 7-inch display, making it thinner than previous models and offering a battery life extending up to three months. It is water-resistant and includes 16GB of storage. The Kindle Paperwhite is available starting at $159.99, while the Paperwhite Signature Edition, offering 32GB of storage, optional wireless charging, and an auto-adjusting front light, is priced at $199.99.

The entry-level Kindle is available from $109.99, weighing just 5.6 ounces. It offers a 300ppi non-reflective screen with faster page turns and 16GB of storage. It can easily be held in one hand or slipped into a back pocket.
