Amazon Stops Production of Last Kindle Model with Buttons

Amazon has officially ceased production of the Kindle Oasis, the final Kindle model featuring physical page-turn buttons. The company revealed a new lineup of Kindle devices earlier today and confirmed to The Verge that the Oasis will no longer be part of their offerings.

Devon Corvasce, a representative of Amazon, stated, “Once the current inventory of the Kindle Oasis sells out online and in stores, we will not restock the device. Today, all of our devices are touch-forward, which aligns with customer preferences.”

Amazon’s listing for the Oasis now displays a message indicating that the e-reader is “currently unavailable.”

The Kindle Oasis was first launched by Amazon in 2016 as a high-end e-reader. It was distinguished by its physical page-turn buttons and a design that featured extra bulk on one side for easier one-handed usage. Amazon updated the device in 2017 and again in 2019, but has not refreshed the product since then.
