Factories are gaining significant attention in defense technology. Earlier this year, Anduril unveiled plans for a billion-dollar ‘megafactory’ in Ohio, while Saronic announced last month its intention to establish a facility dedicated to mass-producing autonomous warships.
Currently, Anduril is contemplating the establishment of a factory in the United Kingdom as part of its strategy to expand beyond United States defense contracts.
Rich Drake, Anduril’s General Manager for the U.K. and Europe, indicated to Bloomberg that the company is planning to open a facility in the U.K. if there is sufficient demand for their products.
The proposed factory would focus on drones and research and development, with possible locations near Oxford and Cambridge being considered, as reported by Sifted.
With European defense budgets reaching unprecedented levels while U.S. military aid to Ukraine is decreasing, opportunities for expansion in this sector are abundant.
Anduril, headquartered in California, is reportedly in discussions to raise up to $2.5 billion at a valuation of $28 billion, although the company did not respond to requests for comment.
