Apple and Anthropic are collaborating to develop a “vibe-coding” software platform that utilizes generative AI to write, edit, and test code for programmers, as reported by Bloomberg on Friday.
According to Bloomberg, Apple intends to implement the software internally but has not yet decided on a public launch. The system represents a new version of Apple’s programming software, Xcode, and utilizes Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet model.
In an effort to enhance its AI capabilities, Apple appears to be leveraging a network of partners. OpenAI’s ChatGPT already contributes to the company’s Apple Intelligence features, and Apple has indicated that Google’s Gemini might be considered as an alternative option in the future. Now, Anthropic is potentially aiding Apple in internal code development.
Among developers, Anthropic’s latest Claude models are particularly favored for coding tasks, especially on vibe-coding platforms like Cursor and Windsurf.
