Collaboration between US and Singapore for AI and Emerging Tech

The US and Singapore have announced plans to deepen their strategic technology partnership by collaborating on six key focus areas of critical and emerging technology. These areas include artificial intelligence (AI), critical infrastructure, biotechnology, digital economy and data governance, technology supply chains, and defense innovation. The commitment was made during the inaugural US-Singapore Critical and Emerging Technology (CET) Dialogue, which resulted in the establishment of a bilateral AI Governance Group to promote responsible AI innovation. The two countries also aim to cooperate on critical infrastructure, climate resilience, and renewable energy development.

The collaboration between the US and Singapore in technology and science has been ongoing for several years. In 2021, the Partnership for Growth and Innovation (PGI) was established to advance cooperation in digital economy, smart cities, energy and environmental technologies, advanced manufacturing, and healthcare. The US-Singapore Climate Partnership was also established to collaborate on climate action, environment and sustainability, and energy transition. With the volatility of global supply chains and the challenges posed by the climate crisis, international collaboration in strategic fields is crucial for regional stability and the responsible development of industries like AI.

The US-Singapore partnership in technology reflects the increasing importance of global cooperation and collaboration in addressing complex challenges and advancing innovation. By focusing on key areas of critical and emerging technology, both countries aim to exchange information, promote responsible innovation, and strengthen their respective industries. This partnership not only benefits the US and Singapore but also contributes to global efforts in addressing climate change, enhancing cybersecurity, and promoting sustainable economic development. The bilateral agreement signifies a commitment to continued collaboration and the pursuit of shared goals in the field of technology.
