According to internal data revealed during Google’s ongoing antitrust lawsuit, Google’s AI chatbot, Gemini, reached 350 million monthly active users worldwide as of March. This statistic was first reported by The Information.
Over the past year, the usage of Google’s AI services has surged. In October 2024, Gemini had approximately 9 million daily active users. By last month, the company recorded an increase to 35 million daily active users, based on its data.
Despite this growth, Gemini still trails behind the most popular AI tools in the industry. According to Google’s data presented in court, ChatGPT had about 600 million monthly active users in March. This figure places ChatGPT on a similar scale as Meta AI, which CEO Mark Zuckerberg mentioned in September was approaching 500 million monthly users.
Although companies may measure monthly active users differently, these figures highlight the broad adoption of Gemini by consumers. Over the past year, Google has integrated Gemini with millions of users through AI features in Samsung phones, Google Workspace applications, and Chrome.
