EA’s sports game franchises are significant, and the company is preparing to launch a mobile application to further integrate EA Sports into users’ lives. During an investor presentation, the company announced the forthcoming EA Sports app, scheduled for a soft launch on iOS and Android in Spain this fall.
In a press release, EA described the app as a "socially-driven" platform featuring a discovery feed to stay updated on news and highlights from favorite teams, interactive challenges available during and after live games, and community "arenas." The initial soft launch in Spain will include a mixture of sports content, live sports data, social messaging, interactivity, and challenges, focusing on Global Football in collaboration with long-standing partner LaLiga.
EA also indicated plans to incorporate additional sports into the app in the future. Considering the app is named the EA Sports app, it is anticipated that franchises like Madden NFL or EA Sports College Football may be integrated eventually.
Recently, EA CEO Andrew Wilson mentioned that the company aims to "double down" on sports, indicating that the development of this new app aligns with those strategic efforts.
