Delta SkyMiles members in the United States now have the opportunity to earn points through rides with Uber or by ordering deliveries via Uber Eats, as part of an exclusive partnership recently established between the two companies.
This collaboration with Delta aims to further connect the ride-hailing giant, Uber, with airport travel, a historically lucrative market segment for the company. Uber also announced plans to expand its newly launched affordable Airport Shuttle service to Atlanta, following successful launches in New York City.
The introduction of Uber’s airport services coincides with a period of market uncertainty, reduced consumer confidence, and increased border scrutiny, which is causing many Americans to reduce their travel expenditures in 2025.
In the current climate of uncertainty, budget-conscious consumers are continuously exploring ways to maximize savings. Uber customers who joined the waitlist can begin linking their accounts on Tuesday, with the service becoming available to all customers on Thursday.
Uber users who are Delta SkyMiles members can earn miles as follows once their accounts are linked:
- Uber Eats: 1 mile for every dollar spent on orders exceeding $40.
- Airport Rides: 1 mile for every dollar spent on UberX rides to and from airports.
- Premium Rides: 2 miles for every dollar spent on Uber Comfort or Uber Black rides.
- Uber Reserve: 3 miles for every dollar spent on rides that are booked in advance.
Riders cannot accumulate miles by reserving an airport ride; however, a spokesperson for Uber indicated that customers will earn SkyMiles based on the trip offering the highest reward.
In addition to the mileage benefits, Uber and Delta are integrating their services further. Customers who purchase a flight through the Fly Delta app will have the option to add an Uber Reserve booking to secure transportation to and from the airport. Later this year, SkyMiles Members logging into Wi-Fi during their flights will receive a 30% discount offer for booking an Uber for pickup upon landing.
