Silicon Valley-based robotics startup Figure AI is reportedly in discussions to secure $1.5 billion in funding, which would value the company at $39.5 billion, according to Bloomberg. This represents a significant increase from the $2.6 billion post-money valuation Figure achieved in its $675 million Series B funding round last year. The current funding round is expected to have Align Ventures and Parkway Venture Capital as its lead investors, Bloomberg has reported.
Figure AI specializes in the development of humanoid robots designed for both commercial and residential use. The rising popularity of humanoid robots has been fueled by advances in artificial intelligence, with Austin-based Apptronik recently raising $350 million for similar endeavors and reports suggesting that Meta is also exploring opportunities in robotics.
Figure AI has already sold its humanoid robots to BMW, and its founder, Brett Adcock, recently announced that the company has engaged a second, undisclosed commercial customer. The startup anticipates the potential to ship 100,000 humanoid robots in the future. Figure AI declined to provide further comments on the matter.
