Google has discreetly disclosed the pricing details for Veo 2, its recently introduced AI video-generating model, unveiled in December. As outlined on the company’s pricing page, Veo 2 will cost users 50 cents per second of video output, which translates to $30 for each minute or $1,800 per hour. Jon Barron, a researcher at Google DeepMind, compared this pricing to the production budget of the blockbuster film “Avengers: Endgame,” which reportedly amounted to $356 million, or approximately $32,000 per second.
It should be noted that customers may not utilize every second of video produced by Veo 2 that they purchase, nor is it expected that Veo 2 will produce long-form content akin to the three-hour duration of “Avengers” films in the near future. Google’s announcement emphasized Veo 2’s capability to generate video clips that span two minutes or longer.
For comparison, OpenAI recently released its Sora video generation model to subscribers who pay $200 monthly for a ChatGPT Pro subscription.
