The same pop-up menu enables users to modify the style of their images. Currently, available options include Animation and Illustration, which can be interchanged as desired. Based on code observed in beta versions of iOS, additional art styles might be introduced, although they have not yet been released at the time of reporting.
Additionally, users have the option to tap the portrait icon located to the right of the text box to initiate their image with a person. They can select either their own Apple Account avatar or choose a generic person from a gallery. This feature is particularly useful for creating profile pictures and headshots.
Refining and Saving Images
Users can add and remove elements as necessary. After starting the image generation process, a selection of results will appear on-screen—users can swipe left and right to browse through them. If the results are unsatisfactory, further refinements can be made. For instance, to alter the facial expression of the main AI character, users simply enter the desired changes into the text box and submit it.
This process also applies to shortcut suggestion icons. New elements, such as Volcanoes or Fireworks, can be included in the picture by tapping on the respective suggestion. Each prompt and suggestion added appears as a floating bubble around the image during its generation. Once again, a selection of results will be presented.
If an element needs to be removed—such as an unwanted volcano—users can tap the generated image in the center to initiate a new generation process. By selecting the – (minus) button next to any elements or prompts, those components will be removed, and a new image will be generated.
Upon completing the image, users can tap the three dots next to it for options to copy it to the clipboard, share it with other apps or contacts, or save it to the phone’s camera roll. Selecting Done will save the created image to the Image Playground gallery, allowing users to start a new project with the + (plus) button.
Finished images are not entirely permanent. Users can tap on any picture in the gallery and choose Edit to return to the generation screen. There is also an option to delete a picture from the saved gallery using the trash can icon or to add a caption by tapping the three dots in the top right corner.
