Hipstamatic’s App Gathers All Party Photos for You

Hipstamatic recently launched the Party! Disposable Camera app, designed to digitally mimic the experience of guests capturing candid photos at events like weddings using disposable film cameras. While the app eliminates film development fees, it is free only for groups of up to five participants.

The core function of the app is to simplify the collection of smartphone photos taken by guests during special occasions. Hosts generate a custom QR code to distribute to their guests, who then download the Party! Disposable Camera app to join the event. Photos taken via the app are aggregated into a single private gallery accessible for viewing and commenting by both the host and guests.

Although there are other solutions that allow guests to upload photos from any device, Hipstamatic’s app is exclusive to iPhone users. The Party! app distinguishes itself by enhancing the disposable camera experience, allowing hosts to select specific visual styles or opt out of filters. All photos captured can only be viewed the day after the event, emulating the anticipation of film development.

The Hipstamatic Party! app is available for download by anyone, but hosts managing larger events must pay based on group size: $2 for 15 users, $5 for 25 users, and $10 for 35 users. Additional participants can be included for a $1 fee each, as reported by PetaPixel. For larger gatherings, Hipstamatic offers a $99 “Event” package for up to 99 guests and a $200 “Wedding” package that allows unlimited users and high-resolution photo uploads.
