Parkour Reigns Supreme in Shinichirō Watanabe’s Lazarus

At New York Comic Con, attendees were given an opportunity to view the premiere episode of “Lazarus.” Alongside this, Adult Swim announced that Koichi Yamadera and Megumi Hayashibara, known for voicing Spike Spiegel and Faye Valentine in “Cowboy Bebop,” will be part of the show’s cast. They will join a talented lineup, including Mamoru Miyano (known for “Death Note”), Maaya Uchida (“Chainsaw Man”), Yuma Uchida (“Jujutsu Kaisen”), Makoto Furukawa (“Kaiju No. 8”), Manaka Iwami (“Phantom of the Idol”), and Akio Otsuka (“Spy x Family”).

In addition, Adult Swim shared a brief clip from “Lazarus” featuring Axel Gilberto, voiced by Miyano. Axel is characterized as a young fugitive whose expertise in escaping prison and eluding authorities makes him an ideal recruit for the Lazarus team. The team is tasked with tackling a global crisis stemming from a widely-used wonder drug on the verge of becoming lethal. Axel, alongside other Lazarus operatives, may hold the key to resolving this impending disaster.

The clip, while not revealing specific details about Axel’s contributions to the team, highlights his proficiency in parkour, which is expected to play a vital role in their mission to save the world. “Lazarus” is set to premiere in 2025.
