Review: Powerful and Slim Razer Blade 16 (2025)

The keyboard of the device in question has undergone several significant updates. The keys now feature a 1.5 mm travel distance, contributing to a tactile and mechanical sensation. Although the actuation has a heavy feel, the added precision is noteworthy. Razer has incorporated five macro keys situated below the power button on the right, alongside “dual-LED” RGB backlighting. This functionality highlights the secondary function of keys when the Function or Shift keys are pressed and held. While perhaps unnecessary, this feature adds a unique touch. Additionally, the expansive glass touchpad has received improvements; previous issues with misclicks and palm rejection have been resolved.

Previously, Razer offered two display options, including a 4K panel, but now only one option remains: an OLED 240-Hz screen with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels. With the RTX 5090 onboard, this display is capable of achieving better frame rates at high resolutions.

The OLED panel excels in image quality, boasting impressive color saturation (100 percent sRGB, 94 percent AdobeRGB) and color accuracy (Delta-E of 0.42). Although the maximum brightness is 381 nits, which may not be the highest, this is typical for OLED displays. Compared to the previously available mini-LED displays, which offered greater brightness in both SDR and HDR, the OLED’s high contrast and quick response times make it a superior choice. The 2025 version of the ROG Zephyrus G16 reportedly reaches 500 nits with its OLED panel, although this has not been personally confirmed.

The Blade 16’s screen has been noted for its extreme glossiness, prompting users to increase brightness to counteract reflections, which can be distracting in certain lighting conditions.

The six-speaker audio system offers decent sound quality, outperforming many other gaming laptops, and providing some bass suitable for videos or movies. However, it remains inferior to the sound quality of Apple’s MacBook Pro. The 1080p webcam is adequate for video calls but may disappoint in terms of image clarity, displaying noticeable noise even in good lighting.

The configuration of this Razer Blade 16 model includes an RTX 5090 Laptop GPU in conjunction with an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, priced at $4,500. This high cost is partly due to the mandatory inclusion of 32 GB of RAM and 2 TB of storage, as Razer no longer offers a 16 GB version. The starting configuration is priced at $3,000 and includes the Ryzen AI 9 365, RTX 5070 Ti, 32 GB of RAM, and 1 TB of storage. Although the Blade series has always been on the expensive side, these prices are particularly challenging for consumers. Previous models are still available, starting at $2,400.

This release marks the first time Razer has exclusively offered AMD as the CPU option for the Blade 16, signaling a shift in the perceived premium status of Intel CPUs. While it is not as robust as the “desktop replacement” chip from the previous year’s Intel model, it provides ample power for gaming needs.
