SoundCloud has entered into a partnership with Ticketmaster and Universe, both part of Live Nation, to enable artists to list events on their profiles in a personalized manner. SoundCloud has stated that this collaboration will lead to more promotional opportunities for artists in the future through a newly planned promotion program with Ticketmaster, although specific details have not been disclosed.
Artists utilizing SoundCloud’s top-tier Pro plan will have access to the self-service ticketing platform Universe. This partnership allows them to list events directly on their SoundCloud profile pages without the need to navigate away from the platform. Artists will have the flexibility to add or modify events on their pages according to the events they wish to promote.
SoundCloud will integrate event data from various ticketing platforms, including Ticketmaster and Dice. Following this, artists will have the option to select which events they wish to display. Additionally, artists will have the capability to manually add links to other ticketing platforms.
The platform intends to promote these events through a concert discovery widget located on the SoundCloud homepage, utilizing data from Ticketmaster. Users will be able to filter these events by city, time, and genre. SoundCloud will receive a share of any affiliate ticket sales made through Ticketmaster links on its platform.
Previously, SoundCloud had a feature that integrated with the music community platform Resident Advisor for displaying three of an artist’s latest events, but this did not offer customization options.
The feature of event display and ticket selling is becoming a significant growth area for music streaming services. In 2022, Spotify began experimenting with direct ticket sales through its app. Spotify is also considering a $6 per month subscription plan for superfans, providing them with early access to concert tickets, according to a Bloomberg report.
This article has been updated to clarify that SoundCloud receives an unspecified commission from Ticketmaster.
