According to a report by Reuters, TikTok is planning to extend its TikTok Shop e-commerce platform to users in France, Germany, and Italy starting on Monday. Since 2021, TikTok Shop has been operational in the United Kingdom, and the company is now ready to expand further across Europe.
Although TikTok Shop is also operational in the United States and experienced robust sales during the holiday season, the platform’s future in the country remains uncertain.
Reuters has noted that TikTok is aiming to attract more Europe-based sellers to TikTok Shop, as many vendors on the platform currently sell products directly from China.
Jan Wilk, head of operations at TikTok Shop UK, informed Reuters that the company is already collaborating with merchants in France, Germany, and Italy to list their products on the platform. TikTok Shop will become accessible to TikTok users in these countries starting next Monday.
Wilk stated that TikTok aims to diversify the range of products and pricing on TikTok Shop, which is predominantly recognized for offering discounted prices. For instance, Wilk highlighted the presence of a U.K.-based luxury goods store on TikTok Shop that sells secondhand Birkin bags.
