In the latest episode of “Saturday Night Live,” the Cold Open featured James Austin Johnson with his notable impression of Donald Trump. The sketch commenced with Kenan Thompson, Marcello Hernández, and Bowen Yang offering a touching Mother’s Day tribute alongside their actual mothers on stage. The scene took a comedic turn with the arrival of Johnson’s Trump, who remarked, “Don’t worry, those aren’t even the real moms, those are actors. SNL wouldn’t spring for the flights.”
The subsequent five minutes showcased Johnson embodying Trump in a stand-up routine, including an unexpected appearance by former cast member Cecily Strong as Jeanine Pirro, a former FOX News host and Trump’s interim pick for U.S. Attorney for D.C.
Joined by Colin Jost portraying Pete Hegseth, the Cold Open humorously critiqued both characters for their spirited relationship with alcohol, with Trump humorously referring to them as the “AA Team.”
