During an event commemorating the birth anniversary of former Indian President APJ Abdul Kalam, ISRO Chairman S Somanath revealed that experts from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in the US recommended that India share its space technology with them. Somanath explained that when developing the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft, ISRO invited experts from JPL to witness the developmental activities. The experts were impressed by India’s capabilities in building devices and rockets and even suggested that India sell its scientific instruments to the US. Somanath emphasized that India has the knowledge and intelligence to build the best equipment and rockets, as demonstrated by the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3’s lander on the Moon’s surface in August.
Highlighting the changing times, Somanath urged students to pursue dreams and follow the footsteps of Kalam. He encouraged young minds to contribute to India’s space technology and mentioned that several companies in India are already involved in building rockets and satellites. Somanath declared that India is on the Moon and expressed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s question of when India will send an Indian to the Moon. He conveyed his belief that the students present at the event would be the ones to accomplish this feat, with a girl child likely being the astronaut to land on the Moon in the future Chandrayaan-10 mission.
In conclusion, the ISRO Chairman emphasized India’s prowess in space technology and the recommendations from US space experts. He encouraged the youth to pursue dreams and contribute to the nation’s space industry, highlighting the opportunities available in the growing private sector. Somanath’s remarks at the event aimed to inspire and motivate students to take a path towards space exploration and contribute to India’s ongoing efforts in the field.
