WhatsApp is introducing a new feature to help users organize their chats more effectively by allowing them to group conversations into custom categories known as “Lists.” This enhancement aims to make it easier for users to locate specific conversations without hassle.
Users will have the ability to create and label lists for particular chats, such as those with family or work colleagues. These lists will be prominently displayed at the top of the inbox, alongside existing filters like “All,” “Unread,” and “Groups,” which were added earlier this year.
To create a list, users can tap the “+” icon located in the filter bar at the top of the chats tab. Once selected, users can assign a name to the list and choose which conversations to include, whether they are group chats or one-on-one interactions. If multiple lists are created, users can scroll horizontally on the filter bar to access all of them.
The rollout of this feature begins today, and while it is already visible on the Android version of the app for some, WhatsApp assures that it will be available to all users in the “coming weeks.”
