Lauren Apolito has been promoted to the position of Executive Vice President, Strategy & Business Development at Rumblefish, a subsidiary of SESAC Music Group. This move comes after Apolito successfully transformed Rumblefish’s rights management service and led important engagements with consumer media brands. In her new role, Apolito will expand her portfolio to establish relationships with businesses that can benefit from SESAC’s Licensing and Administration Services. Michael Simon, President of HFA and Rumblefish, commended Apolito’s leadership, which has resulted in revenue growth, client diversification, licensing opportunities, and new service offerings.
Apart from her role at Rumblefish, Apolito is recognized as an influential figure in the industry. She serves on the Advisory Board of Women in Music, provides mentorship in programs at NYU Steinhardt, TechStars Music, and GRAMMY U. Prior to her tenure at Rumblefish, Apolito held executive positions in international banking, including at eCiti and Nikko, where she focused on global asset management strategies.
Rumblefish, which provides music licensing services and other offerings related to music rights and royalties, was acquired by SESAC in 2014. Since then, Rumblefish has entered into several partnerships, such as extending its collaboration with 7digital to facilitate the launch and expansion of music streaming services. It has also partnered with Facebook to provide music licensing and administration services for indie publishers, as well as with Pinterest to offer music metadata and license management services. SESAC itself continues to expand its offerings through acquisitions, including the purchase of the Harry Fox Agency, AudioSalad, and Music Services. The company was acquired by investment giant Blackstone Group in 2017.
