Adobe debuts AI-infused Photoshop for the web, embracing its renowned desktop tools.

After nearly two years in beta, Adobe’s Photoshop on the web service is now available to the public. The online version of Adobe’s popular desktop photo editing app offers the same tools and features as its desktop equivalent but with a redesigned layout for a more streamlined user experience. It includes features such as the Contextual Task Bar, which provides suggestions for the most relevant steps to take in a workflow. Similar tools are named and grouped together on the toolbar to make navigation easier. Although some features, such as the patch tool and smart object support, are not currently available, Adobe plans to add them in the future.

One significant advantage of Photoshop on the web is its collaboration capabilities. Users can invite others to collaborate on projects and even allow those without a Photoshop subscription to view and comment on files. However, the web-based service is not available for free. It is included as part of all paid Photoshop plans, starting at $9.99 per month. Adobe previously tested a freemium version of Photoshop for the web but decided against launching it. Instead, new users can explore Photoshop on the web through free interactive demos and in-app tutorials before committing to a subscription.

Overall, Adobe’s release of Photoshop on the web brings the power and versatility of their desktop photo editing app to a more accessible and user-friendly online platform. With a range of familiar and essential tools, as well as collaboration features, it caters to both seasoned professionals and new users. While the initial launch may not include all the features found in the desktop version, Adobe’s commitment to adding them in the future ensures that the web-based service will continue to evolve and meet the needs of photographers and graphic designers alike.
