Honda has unveiled new specifications for its upcoming all-electric SUV, the 2024 Honda Prologue. The vehicle, which is built on GM’s Ultium platform, is expected to have a range of 300 miles on a single charge, thanks to its 85kWh battery. This is the same size as the battery in the Chevy Blazer EV, which has an official EPA range of 279 miles. The Prologue and the Blazer also share similarities in terms of wheelbase and driver instrument display. However, the Prologue sets itself apart with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, which the Blazer does not have.
In addition to its impressive range, Honda will offer several charging options for Prologue buyers. These include a charging package that includes a home charging station, a $500 installation service incentive, and $100 in public charging credits. Another package offers a portable 7.6kW charger, a $250 install credit, and a $300 public charging credit. There is also an option that excludes home charging and provides $750 in public charging credits. Furthermore, new Honda and Acura EV owners will receive free DC fast charging at Electrify America stations, up to 60kWh.
The Prologue EV is set to be released in early 2024 and is expected to start in the upper $40,000s. It may qualify for the $7,500 federal tax incentive. Honda plans to introduce 30 new EVs globally by 2030 with a sales volume of 2 million vehicles. The Prologue, built on GM’s platform, is a temporary solution for Honda as it catches up in terms of electrification. Honda’s next electric vehicle, a larger SUV, is already planned for the future.
